Twice Blessed Showroom Consignment
The Twice Blessed Consignment Showroom, an outreach of First United Methodist Church of Victoria, is a consignment shop run by church and community volunteers. The concept for Twice Blessed began when JoNell Carter visited her cousins in San Marcos, TX. Her cousins were part of the San Marcos Twice Blessed Consignment Shop. After seeing their dedication and the amount of money contributed to the church and community, JoNell sought out twelve women from the First United Methodist Church of Victoria, TX who were interested in pursuing a similar project in Victoria. This endeavor began with a church-wide one day sale providing seed money for the shop.
With the help and support of other church members a location was finally secured in the North Park Shopping strip. The board members' husbands and church members cleaned, painted, and moved furniture to get the Showroom ready for the Open House. On April 2, 2005, Ricky Sanderford, minister of FUMC, blessed the Showroom that was filled with church members and first time customers.
The board members recruited volunteer to assist during the store hours. Both the volunteers and board members have given many hours to keep this mission going. All personnel in the showroom are volunteers with women throughout the community participating. The board membership has changed over the years and the volunteer list, growing to 75, continues to make Twice Blessed a wonderful Ministry of FUMC and the community. Without our dedicated volunteers and community angels we would not be able to support the programs in our community and the church as we do today. The board indeed feels this outreach is a "blessed effort".
The new Twice Blessed Showroom opened on November 10, 2016
